Petkim chooses Diphoterine®
When it comes to the petrochemical industry, we can identify five major risk stages, namely: Production, Inspection, Storage, Maintenance and Supporting Operations.
The petrochemical industry is responsible for the production and trade of petrochemicals and works hand-in-hand with the petroleum industry. Another big area within the petrochemical industry is the polymer or plastics industry.
At one of the petrochemical plants, Petkim, among others, Sulfuric Acid (80%) as well as Sodium Hydroxide (50%) are produced. These products can cause sever burns if splashed on skin or eyes. Furthermore, Sulfuric Acid reacts vigorously with water in a highly exothermic reaction. Therefore, rinsing a Sulfuric Acid splash under a conventional water safety shower often causes more damage. Identifying these risks, Petkim has implemented the following solution:
Not only have Petkim ensured the safety of their employees during production of the chemicals by equipping the plant with Diphoterine® First-Aid Stations, but have also made the recommendation of the use of Diphoterine® in their MSDS sheets for these products in the event of chemical splash.
